Overview of Breast Cancer Surgery Options:

1. Lumpectomy (Breast-Conserving Surgery):

• Removes tumor and a small portion of surrounding tissue.
• Preserves most of the breast.
• Typically for early-stage cancer.

2. Mastectomy:

• Total (Simple) Mastectomy:
• Removes the breast without lymph nodes or chest muscles.
• Modified Radical Mastectomy:
• Removes the breast and some underarm lymph nodes.
• Radical Mastectomy:
• Rarely used, removes breast, chest muscles, and underarm lymph nodes.

3. Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB):

• Removes a few lymph nodes to check for cancer spread without extensive removal.

4. Axillary Lymph Node Dissection (ALND):

• Removes more underarm lymph nodes if cancer has spread or SLNB isn't feasible.
